Introduction Nancy is a tax preparer to hundreds. Co worker of hundreds. Friend to thousands. Nancy was feeling ill and had the doctor run some tests. She has been diagnosed with cancer. She was in Washington Hospital for a few weeks. She is now home in hospice care. She is fighting and doing her best to keep her spirits up. In the hospital I mentioned this site and how she could send out her "Notes from Nancy" so people would have updates on her, she liked the idea. Once she got home she said .. maybe it can be "Catch up from Kay". The cards and flowers are all around her. She would like to send you all Thank You cards so watch those mailboxes. : )

| Nancy is home and on bed rest. Hospice nurses are there every couple days. Judy has flown back from Texas to help take care of her. She is keeping vistors to a minimum right now so she can rest. We are hanging the cards she is receiving on the wall in her room so she can look at them. So keep them coming. |
Report created by: Kay Date: 07/03/2008 at 3:35 p.m. Subject: One Thank you down..
I was able to see Nancy today after the hospice nurse was there. She was able to get one thank you done and the rest will wait. Nancy's brother Rick is in town. Jacks mother and sister visited today also. They are changing her medications and she is pretty tired. I let her know about this site and the messages she has received. We will hang them on the wall along with the cards. They do ask for people to refrain from dropping by. She hasnt been resting well and the hospice care is in and out. Calling ahead is recommended. She may speak to you on the phone or ask that you call later. Please keep Nancy and her family in your prayers. We all love her so. |

Nancy (My Tax Dictionary), I am so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow. In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always. Madhavi Singireddy (San Antinio)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 11, 2008 I held the same position as Nancy did with H&R Block in the San Jose area. We became friends over the years and could rely on each other to know the answer to a question that no one else seemed to know. I will miss her terrible and am very saddened that she has been taken so suddenly. Dixie Raphael (San Jose, CA) Contact me
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 11, 2008 Nancy was the daughter of my cousin, Jackie, and was a sweet and loving person. I always found her to be bright, cheerful, and kind to everybody. I am very saddened at a life cut so short. Marvin anad Jean Peixoto (Carmichaeel, CA) Contact me
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 11, 2008 Nanacy and I went to High School together. Several times she would run away from home to my house. I remember one morning my mom looked out our kitchen window and saw Nancy sitting on the curb with a brown bag. It may of been the first time. My parents welcomed her into our home for as long as she wanted to stay but my mom would make sure that Nancy called her mom to let her know where she was at. We had some great times together. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 10, 2008 I have more memories with Nancy that I'd like to share. And first off I'll apologize for not recounting everything in chronological order. Right after high school, Nancy, myself and Linda Page took the bus down to San Luis Opisbo to visit her Dad and Martha, AND, to pick up the car her Dad was giving her (a pinto!). We thought that was wonderful. Nancy and Linda had just rented an apartment together in Irvington at that time....The girls didn't always do the dishes promptly at that time (we were all too busy having a good time), and someone decided to take a left-over pancake from a breakfast cooked there and safety-pin it to the wall. It stayed there a long time. Maybe you had to be there, but that pancake was symbolic to us - we thought everything was pretty funny at that age.... during those days, we worked at Mission Blvd Convalescent Hospital. Working graveyard shift with Nancy was always fun, even thought it was graveyard. When you're 18 years old, it's not that hard! During those days, I would go home and sleep very soundly, not hearing Nancy and Linda's pounding on my window!! I couldn't believe it when they told me they were trying to wake me up. And then there was my adventure with Nancy in Mervyns... hmmm. Never mind I think.
In high school, Nancy and I joined what was called J.A. "Junior Achievement" and then a bit later we took an ROTC course before school in the morning where we received Nurses Aide training before being employed at what we grew to call Mission Blvd Convalescent Hospital "MBCH." At some point, I left there to take a different job, Nancy had a bedpan engraved with my name on it.
Another summer in high school, I worked with Nancy at "Belle's Motel", located just across the street from where she grew up in Mission. I bought my first pack of cigarettes with Nancy from in front of "The Pines" on Mission Blvd. We rode our ten speed bikes all over Fremont.. I stayed the night at her house a lot. I went with Nancy to visit her Aunt Mary all the time.
Nancy was a good friend to me, she was honest and loyal. I always felt accepted and comfortable around her. Our teenage minds/humor just clicked together. Too many hours laying in the sun with baby oil. I would 'help' her baby sit the kids down the street at times.
We did a good job T.P.'ing a few homes in our day. Very busy. I hope it's OK for me to share some memories so you can know a little bit about her life at that point in time. She had a wonderful sense of humor and I think she lived a good life, but not long enough. I have never forgotten Nancy and I never will.
Once in a while I take a shirt out of the drawer that she and I would take turns wearing. It's a very unique shirt, and I'm so glad I have it. I thought about showing it to her some day - she would remember it instantly.
OK, well, there is more, but I dont want to take up all the space. :-)
Again, much love to you Nancy. I am so very sorry you are gone. I will always remember you. I thought of you intensely when I heard you were gone and I cried openly. Love, Janet Janet Sweeney (San Jose, CA) Contact me
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 10, 2008 It's been a very long time since I've seen Nancy, but the news of her passing hit me as though I had seen her yesterday. I felt terrible and didn't sleep until past 2am. I probably spoke to, or spent time with Nancy - daily at times, or close to it, from age 13 - 18. We got in to a lot of harmless mischief together. I have many old letters from her written when we were in high school. When I moved to Oregon during my sophomore/junior year in high school, Nancy came up to visit me in the summer. We spent long hours on the phone, a lot of time together, and lots of writing. Probably more communication with Nancy in those years than any other friend since. We took French together in high school and spoke on the phone in a combination of French/English. We learned a lot in those classes, actually!I'll close by sharing what I learned after hearing of Nancy's passing - the connections you make when you're young are very deep, and don't leave you. I'm so very sorry her life was cut short. I could see she was intelligent then, and I'm sure she was a success in whatever she did in life. All my love and best memories Nancy. Janet Janet Sweeney (San Jose, CA) Contact me
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 10, 2008 Miss you so much already. Glad I could help you when you needed it. You have helped me so much thru the years. I am glad you are at peace now. Kay Katz (Hayward, CA)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 10, 2008 Nancy will be missed by all her co workers at H&R Bloc k, as well as her many clients. There is a hole in my heart that will take a long time to heal. The best friend a person could have. Jane Evans (Newark, CA) Contact me

Thanks everyone for those contributions to the Nancy Meyers Fund. The Fund has enough money to pay off the remaining balance to the funeral home, which we will do Friday. Without everyone's kindness, this would not have happened.
