Report created by: Jason Date: 09/06/2008 at 9:49 p.m. Subject: Saturday
From Anna New: I Spoke with Dad, his throat still hurts a little; but he sounds good. IV's are out, sat-up 2 time today, hopes to have him up and walking tomorrow.
From Jason: It's Saturday night around 8pm. Dad/Dean is progressing nicely. He is no longer on any IVs. He has been eating and drinking regularly through out the day. In fact he has requested that Mom brings him a “cup of Colombian decaf coffee and a bagel w/cream cheese” for Sunday breakfast. He was able to get out of bed and sit in a chair for about 1 hour. He is fully aware of where he is and what is going on around him. The nurses are planning to take out his central line tonight as long as he continues to improve. If all goes well throughout the night he will be moved some time tomorrow to a regular room. He is grateful for all the calls and well wishes. If he is moved we will update you with a room number. |

Good Morning everyone, First and formost...Thank you all for all the prayers and thoughts that have come Dean's way. He is doing well and recovering right on schedule. Hopefully, he will be transfered to the 4th floor today and begin walking and preparing to come home. He is eating well and communicating. His appetite is very good. Amanda and I are getting ready to go see him. If the hospital will allow we will take our dog, Ollie (who is in training to be a therapy dog) in to see him tomorrow. Dean is missing him. Our adult children have been wonderful. Those who could be there physically, were there during the surgery, waiting and praying. Those who could not be there were in constant contact. Again, thanks to all for your prayers and loving concern. Will keep you updated. blessings, Marie |

Hello everyone, Dean has been moved to the 4th floor and doing very well. He read all the messages and to say the least the messages affected him in a very postitive manner. Tears expressed his gratitude and thanks. He is waiting on his dinner and Anna to come. She as been the communication person while she was away. Sharing the duties with Jason. Mark, Joyce, Cathy, David, Aoy and Jason have all been very much a part of the cheerleading team. Amy is in transition (traveling to the east coast to live)but sending messages and staying in touch via the phone. Thank you again for your love and prayers. Please keep them coming as Dean will be facing another surgery in about 3months. He will be having prostate surgery. Then we can really celebrate and relax. blessings to you all, Marie |

Report created by: Marie Date: 09/14/2008 at 4:30 p.m. Subject: Home and healing
Hello everyone, THank you again for all your prayers and love. Dean is home and has been since Wednesday afternoon. He is healing nicely. He is able to get up and walk around inside the house and for short walks outside the house. He is doing alot of reading. Is a bit restless but that is to be expected. Thanks to Gerry Smith for a book that is keeping him alert and occupied. Also our neighbors brought over 3 books for him to read. We will be seeing the surgeon and oncologist (hemo) tomorrow. We would really like to know what is causing his platelets to be so low. However, our family doctor says it may have been caused by the surgery. So we will rest and relax until something says differently. Our goal is to get Dean well and ready to have his prostate surgery. After that I am praying we can alll totlally relax and get back to our every day lives. Many blessing to all of you and Thank you again. Vickie, Our thoughts and prayers continue for Rosina. Marie |
